Title: Lovis Corinth First Day Cover 1978 — Addressed to Thomas Corinth, Family Provenance
Includes letter of authenticity from Lovis Corinth's Great-granddaughter

Description: A truly singular philatelic item from the Corinth family archive.

This First Day Cover (Ersttagsbrief) was issued November 16, 1978 by Deutsche Bundespost as part of the special stamp series Malerei des Impressionismus (Painting of Impressionism), honoring painter Lovis Corinth (1858–1925). The cover bears two 50-Pfennig stamps reproducing Corinth's painting Ostern am Walchensee (Easter at Lake Walchensee), cancelled with the official first-day postmark from Bonn (5300), dated 16.11.1978. An airmail label (Mit Luftpost / Par Avion) is affixed, and the decorative cachet was designed by stamp artist Professor H. P. Schall, Köln, exclusively for customers of Hermann E. Sieger.

What sets this cover apart entirely from any other example on the market: it was mailed directly to Mr. Thomas Corinth, 145 East 16th Street, New York, NY 10003 — Lovis Corinth's son and the keeper of the Corinth legacy in America. The original mailing label remains affixed.

This cover is being offered by the great-granddaughter of Lovis Corinth and great-niece of Thomas Corinth, from the family's personal archive. It is not a dealer copy or a philatelic subscription piece that passed through anonymous hands — it traveled by air from Bonn to New York, to the Corinth family home.

Condition: Very good. Light handling, envelope unsealed, minor aging consistent with age and airmail transit. The stamps, cachet, and address label are clean and intact.

A piece of Corinth family history in philatelic form.
