Classic U.S. Scott #240 — the 1893 Columbian Exposition 50¢ "Recall of Columbus," slate blue, used.

This is one of America's most iconic stamps: part of the first U.S. commemorative series, printed by the American Bank Note Company to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Columbus's arrival in the New World. The engraved vignette depicts Columbus being summoned back to the Spanish court, based on a painting that hangs in the U.S. Capitol.
